MISSION STATEMENT

Urunga Sail Training Club Mission Statement

The Urunga Sail Training Club, not for profit organisation, is a ‘family’ orientated club that was started in 2010 to provide a safe recreational introduction and ongoing relationship between people and the water. To this end, the Club delivers Australian Sailing Accredited Sailing (and other) lessons to anyone who wishes to learn no matter what their ability from ages 5 to 85, on the Kalang and Bellinger Rivers.

The Urunga Sail Training Club is also the home of Sailability Urunga for teaching people with all abilities how to experience and enjoy sailing. As an ongoing part of its commitment to the community, the Urunga Sail Training Club also offers:

  • An inclusive environment to learn safely on and around the water, including Instructor training, youth and school’s programs
  • Social sailing events and networking with other clubs
  • Use of club boats to those who cannot afford them
  • A comfortable, accessible meeting place for older ex-sailors to gather and reminisce
  • Social evenings and Community events
  • A comfortable, accessible introductory meeting place for the broader community to discover sailing and other activities offered by the club.

We always need more volunteers to assist with things behind the scenes like clerical, writing grants, helping on sailing days and fundraising, assisting in boat repairs, working bees and social Sailing days. It is not a pre-requisite that you need to be a sailor as any assistance is gratefully appreciated. The current committee welcome any new skills set that you can offer.

The club cannot survive without you, so get involved.
