We have a new course starting on the 19th of Octob We have a new course starting on the 19th of October! This course is almost full so get in quick! Starting at 9:30am until 1:30pm for 5-6 Saturdays (weather dependent). Weaving the Story of ‘Bindarry Yuruun’ (Long R Weaving the Story of ‘Bindarry Yuruun’ (Long River), A Gumbaynggirr History project of the Bellinger River sea and river Country workshops. This is a cross-cultural Creative Placemaking project funded through a grant from @bellingenshirecouncil focusing on histories of place, pre-contact, contact and colonial through to contemporary times, weaving the shared story onto a sail donated by the USTC. With the Gumbaynggirr Wenonah Head Aboriginal Corporation, workshops have been held to tell stories of Gumbaynggirr histories and enduring presence within contemporary Bellingen Shire, through weaving, social connections and knowledge holder storytelling from in and around our local areas, celebrating resilience and healing through story. Using Salvaged fabrics and materials we are in the processes of continuing to create the story of Bindarry Yuruun onto sails; so invite the wider community to come along and assist in the last two workshops on Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th of July at 9 Bellingen Street, Urunga from 10:30am-2:30pm. Bring a plate of food to share for lunch and contact Kerry (0490349378) for more details.

The Urunga Sail Training Club has been nominated in this month's Greater Bank community funding program.

The winner of the vote is given $2,000 on behalf of Greater Bank's mission to support the community, with the other runner-up organisations being awarded $500 each.

Voting started this morning at 9am and finishes 5pm, Wednesday 29 March 2023.

Solo Antarctic Record Talk by Lisa Blair happening at the Urunga Sail Training Club on the 17th September at midday.
Lisa set the world record for sailing solo, non-stop and unassisted around Antarctica becoming the fastest person in the world, first woman and the third fastest ever to achieve such a feat.
